# Finding tools and controls

Recraft Studio just got a new home for creating and editing. Click any image, and its prompt, model, and settings come right back with one click — regenerate as-is, or change one word first, instead of rebuilding from memory.

Here's why: creating, editing, and chatting used to live in different places, each with its own layout. Now Create and Chat share one left panel, and when you select an image, the ways to change it — including AI editing — sit right beside it. You don't go looking to change something; it's already there. Some tools moved. A few were removed. The rest of this page shows you exactly where each tool and control landed, and what's not available at the moment.

## The left panel: Create and Chat

One panel on the left holds two tabs.

* Create is for generating and editing: pick a generation type (Image, Vector, Video, Mockup, or Image set), then set Model, Style, Add references, Ratio, Colors, and Generation count. You can start from scratch or work with references — including AI editing of those references — all from Create. Vector is its own generation type here, separate from Image.
* Chat is agentic mode. It's a tab in this same panel, not a separate bottom panel. Chat no longer keeps a record of what you generated. For that, use History in the top left.

## Selected object

Click any image to open its **Selected object** panel: the prompt, model, style, and parameters used to make it. Two buttons sit at the bottom — **Reuse**, which pulls the recipe into the prompt panel instead of starting a blank draft, and **Copy**, which copies just the prompt. When you've edited with references, this panel also carries the image references and editing model used.

## **Attaching reference images**

Clicking or selecting an image doesn't attach it automatically anymore. Look for the **"Add"** attach suggestion instead of a plus icon. Clicking a text-to-image result shows this same "Add" suggestion rather than opening the Selected object panel.

## **Canvas toolbar**

The canvas toolbar moved to the bottom of the canvas. Mockup is no longer a toolbar tool. Simply create a mockup from the generation type selector in Create, or from Reuse actions on an existing image. Mockup templates can be found on the “get started” page.

## **Image actions**

Click an image to open the right panel. It now opens directly on the **Modify** block — everything you need to do to the selected image, including AI editing, with its own prompt field written right there in the right panel. That means you can trigger AI edits from either the left panel (Create) or the right panel.

Actions are grouped by what they do:

* Modify: edit image, change background, remove background, **erase area** (previously edit area — only erasing remains after you select an area), adjust colors, outpaint, and remix.
* Reuse: turn to vector, turn to mockup, reuse for video, and extract prompt.
* Finalize: upscale and export.

**What's gone**

* Generate variations has been removed from this panel. Find it in the old interface until better support for exploring options ships.
* Exploration mode used to generate 8 similar, yet different, images at once. Right now, it is not available. We are working on making Recraft better. If you'd like to give feedback about what tasks you used Exploration Mode for, you can do so here: [https://recraft.canny.io/feature-requests](https://recraft.canny.io/feature-requests)
* Chat history. Chat no longer keeps a record of what you generated. Use History in the top left instead.
* **Enhance prompt is hidden.** It's coming back once it works properly.

## **Old interface**

Find it in profile settings. The old interface takes you back to the previous version of Recraft Studio. It's there so Generate variations stays available while we build better support for exploring options into this panel.
