Recraft V4.1

Recraft V4.1 is the latest generation of Recraft image models, released in May 2026 — the next step beyond V4, with sharper, more polished, and more consistent results across the board. Photorealism takes a serious step forward, with cleaner outputs, better object understanding, and noticeably sharper mockups. Prompt following has improved too: V4.1 reads intent more naturally, so shorter prompts produce stronger results. New illustration styles are now possible, and icons and vectors come out cleaner by default.

recraftv4_1 is the default model of the API. A request to /v1/images/generations or /v1/images/imageToImage with no model specified uses it.

The line splits along three axes:

Standard (1K) vs Pro (2K). Standard versions are built for everyday work and fast iteration; Pro versions generate at a higher resolution with finer detail for print-ready assets and large-scale use.
Expressive vs Utility. The main V4.1 models are tuned for peak artistic and design quality — they bring their own point of view, experimenting with light, mood, and composition. Utility models are optimized for broader, general-purpose appeal, trading that expressiveness for predictability: flat lighting, front-facing composition, simple scenes. Pick Utility for mockups and product listing photos.
Raster vs Vector. Vector versions return editable SVG images built for logos, typography, and illustration.

How to call it

Pass the model to /v1/images/generations (or omit it — V4.1 is the default):

Supported operations

Generate image — recraftv4_1 is the default model when no model is specified.
Create style — create a custom style by passing a V4.1 model.
Image to image — recraftv4_1 is the default model here as well.
Explore and Explore similar — the main V4.1 models (not the Utility variants), with recraftv4_1 as the default.
